The insurance industry is rooted in supporting those in need. Our business model has put many in the insurance space as among the first on the ground to respond to disasters and help with recovery. Philanthropy, charitable giving, and community are at the core of our industry, and at SIAA’s cornerstone fundraising gala, A Pink Evening in Boston, independent agency owners and insurance carrier professionals across the industry gathered to support another major cause, the fight against cancer.
A Pink Evening in Boston gathered guests dressed in pink to honor Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The event’s leading speaker was Kristen Berset Harris, the award-winning television host who battled breast cancer twice and is now in remission. The event raised nearly $60,000 for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund, including SIAA’s $10,000 match for any contributions taking place during SIAA’s three-day semi-annual business meeting, which also took place in Boston.
The national business meeting, which convenes insurance professionals partnering with SIAA from across the country, takes place twice a year so participants learn, share and network in order to further the success all organizations and member agencies working with the alliance.
